I'm honestly trying to wrap my brain around Shrek releasing before the first iPod.

Everything transferred over now. Getting uncached read speeds of 500-600 MB/s on large files. Cached read speeds saturating the 10Gb connection. Files a few gigs in size basically copy over instantly. Very happy with it so far.

Got the new NAS up and running with TrueNAS. Nothing too complex, storage, Linux and Windows shares, a Jellyfin server for media, and automated backups to the cloud for important documents. Transferring all my media off the old NAS. The old box can only do gigabit, so it's been running all day.

Ordered the parts to convert my old PC into a new NAS to replace my decade old Synology. And got some new networking equipment to get a 10Gb connection to it.

Balls, pucks, whatever goes into the stands goes to kids. They'll get much more from it than any adult.

I...really like it so far? It's been pretty smooth to setup. Smoother than I thought at least. Really thought there were going to be major issues on an Nvidia card. I've only tried one game so far but it ran fine. Everything else I use runs just as well of not better than Windows.

I have installed Linux. God help me.

Costco is so good for appliance purchases. We bought a washer/dryer set a while ago. Costco and Home Depot both had them on sale. Costco was $200 cheaper on the price and had free delivery, setup, and haul away. Home Depot wanted $100 just for delivery.
