Male CNS Connectome
A team of researchers has unveiled the complete connectome of a male fruit fly central nervous system βa seamless map of all the neurons in the brain and nerve cord of a single male fruit fly and the ...
Exciting news for #drosophila #connectomics and #neuroscience enthusiasts: the Drosophila male central nervous system connectome is now live for exploration. Find out more at the landing page hosted by our Janelia FlyEM collaborators www.janelia.org/project-team....

A fun thing in science is when you didn't appreciate that a story was actually pretty cool until you spend some time with it and realize it's actually a blast. I'm having that moment right now (to distract myself from the world) as I prep a talk for next week's CSHL meeting on some totally new shit.

Then the thesis defense does not happen. There's not enough time to review and the student has not accomplished the requirements for the degree. It sucks, but there are rules. When I was a grad student, it had to be in 2 weeks before the defense, and that was rigorously enforced!

A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down.
All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides canβt work in shutdown.
So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!
