the animal buddies are. good! with an asterisk, the new ones royally shit on the old ones, i dont think i used Rick or Coo outside of when i *had* to, and Kine is good situationally but miserable otherwise, Pitch was a clear winner throughout the whole game

the Heart Stars are pretty fun and give you something to do in each level, and they are NOT as esoteric or hard to figure out as i was led to believe, even if some of them. arent fun to do (looking at you Level 5) but i like the system

either way Dream Land 3 is a BEAUTIFUL video game oh my god, i was running into a couple hiccups due to running it on both an emulator and a hi definition display but MAN on a CRT this game would look like a work of art in motion, LOVE the artstyle

Shinichi Shimomura casually showing up to direct the Dark Matter trilogy and then disappearing from the public eye forever is so interesting to me i wonder what he's doing now. the fact that nobody knows what hes been up to since 2002 is insane. is he still alive???

i liked this one! definitely a fascinating game to close out Kirby's time on the SNES, especially looking at Super Star before it and the Kirby games after it

to be fair, it *does* show you the character that's waiting for you at the end on the level selector, after the second time it happened I was like "oh this is the pattern"

I think it's only really the x-4 ones where you gotta take a special path through the level to get them, the little "hey there's a secret here!" jingle and the fact that *most* of them have all the pieces to solve them right there in the room I find them pretty generous

the only one that's made me go "ugh really?" is the one in 5-5 where they want you to bring Nago to the end of the stage. a stage in which he does not spawn.

afaik it's the only one in the game that asks you to bring something from another stage into it

what's the general consensus on the Heart Stars in Dream Land 3? cause like. i really dont think these are too bad tbhhhhhhh

I really like how some of the more iconic abilities in the prior games are just not here, but you can get something pretty close with the right animal buddy pairs

(altho the new ones kinda really outshine the old ones I'm sorry Rick I love you but I don't want to play as you)

Dreamland 3 is such a neat game that it kind of makes me wonder what the series would be like if they stuck with this style of Kirby game instead of Super Star for the next 10 years or so

this was a wonderful read! as someone who got filtered by Rayman PSX when I was getting into emulation as a middle schooler it's good to know that the game is actually Just That Hard

a surprising amount of people have, im surprised! i thought the DS version was well liked
