Entirely work-aroundable! It's just people seeing 1.7 as the build target and mentally parsing it as 17, then wondering why their mods won't load. It'll be common knowledge to check that soon, if it isn't already.

To be fair, most of the other mods _couldn't_ update until I did. :)

Also, Mikohime's Java 23 Starsector port meant I was able to get 99% of the work and testing done for the Java 17 update months ahead of time. That more than anything saved me a massive headache, so they deserve the praise.

An unexpected wrinkle with the move to Java 17: multiple modders have had trouble compiling because Java 7 was called 1.7 internally and they missed that dot when checking that everything targets Java 17. Other than that, so far the upgrade has gone well. Congrats on yet another excellent release!

Games with morale systems are funny like that. Like Dwarf Fortress - "I'm upset that several of my friends have mysteriously burned to death recently, but this cool lava fountain in our mess hall nearly makes up for it."

Past Me stubbornly refused to use Git feature branches for his mods, instead shoving everything into the master branch and pushing finished work to a "clean" repository. Current Me is returning from a long hiatus and looking at dozens of files with unfinished changes, wondering where to even start.
