Remember when I said his entire notion of governing devolves to wanting to speak with the manager at all times, not realizing that he is the final manager of the entire world

In the name of protecting Jews, Jews have their funding cancelled, get kicked out of seminars, and are removed from leadership positions in Jewish Studies to be replaced by non-Jews.

Reeves considers cut to green levies in effort to reduce cost of energy bills Exclusive: Chancellor hopes to save up to ยฃ170 from average bill but industry insiders say move would be โ€˜disastrousโ€™

To be clear, what is being proposed here is to axe the main mechanism for getting Britainโ€™s homes insulated - which is by FAR the best way to reduce household energy bills in the long term ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

โ€ฆand also, just incidentally, an absolute non-negotiable requirement for meeting UK climate targets ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿฅตโ˜ ๏ธ

Mamdani's electoral map in 2025 (blue-yellow) looked exactly like Adams's map in 2021 and Cuomo's in 2025 looked exactly like Sliwa's in 2021 (blue-red). In other words, Cuomo was the de-facto GOP candidate and the people who voted for him were GOP supporters, not people who voted Dem in 2021.

Absolutely insane.

Labour would have purged and smeared someone like Zohran Mamdani.

Wes Streeting's politics align far more closely with Andrew Cuomo.

The lessons from Mamdani are about how to defeat both the right - and the bankrupt "centre".

Photo of NBCโ€™s exit poll data (from my work laptop, lol) showing Mamdani splitting the straight vote equally with Cuomo, but taking the LGBTQ+ vote by more than 5:1. Even though the LGBTQ+ slice is only 14% of the population, they were a LANDSLIDE in his favor.

This needs more attention: Zohran SPLIT the straights with Cuomo. ALL of his margin was from LGBTQ+ voters. Every Dem who ever said โ€œwe should abandon the transesโ€ needs this shoved down their fucking throat with a ramrod.

Actually one of the weird things in the article I read about it was the marketing guy saying (of last yearโ€™s AI effort) โ€œlook it tested wellโ€ which is surely the truth but a bit of a โ€œmarketers only say this when theyโ€™re VERY distressedโ€ moment

once again struck by the way the left always has to moderate itself in left wing areas in case it puts off moderates elsewhere and the right just... never thinks about that? at all?? and no one calls them on it???

Literally everyone code switches. I don't use the same voice when I'm sitting in a committee meeting as I do watching Rugby in the pub, for example.

Anyone who thinks they don't do this has never listened to themselves speak.

"Alabamans voted for a pedophile to starve them in a failed attempt to prevent me from occasionally wearing a skirt" is one of those factually true statements that makes me feel like I am having a stroke.

I was deeply disappointed at the time. I think it was a case of just not being noticed as opposed to getting actively ignored/buried, but I think it was an important report that should have been picked up by more media.

Sadly, my reporting work has always gone down that way.

If there were a competent opposition party in this country, the only message weโ€™d get is that a starving, desperate country where your only hope of safety is blind allegiance to a violent, capricious autocrat and prosperity exists for only his inner circle is what GOP governance looks like

canโ€™t tell if my antidepressants arenโ€™t working or if they just werenโ€™t built for this. like, zoloft was introduced in the 90s it barely needed to work then. if you got sad you could just buy a house.

People can and should have nice things.

If someone writes a report saying "we build transport that is too nice and that's why projects are expensive and that's why we don't build more of them" then not only should their analysis be discarded as junk but they should be pilloried.

If you wanted to do metal detectors for long distance train journeys but not commuter lines you'd need a project to build a comprehensive national high speed network.

Perhaps spending decades terrifying the public with relentless tall tales about the pampered, idle poor has been deleterious to creating a decent, pleasant society

this is true and it would be good if nominally-progressive politicians considered this dynamic whenever they vote to give more weapons and surveillance tech to their local cops, who are invariably a political base for right-wing politics

Daily reminder than when transphobes claim trans women are more likely to be sex offenders than cis women, they are citing a paper where the vast majority of โ€œsex offensesโ€ committed by trans women were prostitution convictions

Theyโ€™re bragging about forcing destitute trans women into prostitution

This is what I mean when I say that present-day covid denialism is right wing. It was a plan born of corporatists and wholly adopted by centrists and even leftists eager to pretend the pandemic was over, which should immediately give anyone thinking about it pause.

Yes, this is it - BORING!

The US captivated global fascination while it was this place where a future *never seen before* was being created.

Now it's just trying to adopt and resurrect stuff that's painfully familiar to the rest of the world.

We know how this goes - we already have it at home!
