Speaking of not being given other options⦠use of hydrogen for carbon based fuels (e.g. aviation fuel) is a poor use of ressources.
Just store the carbon needed for synthesis instead.

Senior Analyst at CONCITO. Thoughts on clever climate policy. Looking into optimal use of carbon, energy and money in the green transition.

Thanks for sharing the numbers!
Did you make a table? It seems relevant to try to construct a carbon storage supply curve. If the value of additional storage is 100-300 β¬/ton CO2, then I would suspect you could find significant additional room underground.
Has anyone looked into using CaO instead? Same result but only 30 % of the mass.
Calcination with CCS would need to be done on land.
Thanks for sharing! Have you made any assessments of how the overall ESR target compliance is coming along? www.transportenvironment.org/uploads/file...

Do you have the numbers for energy use emissions?
Graph of the climate benefit from a kWh of green electricity used on various purposes, clearly showing that e-fuels is last in line
π« More routes to climate-neutral aviation! π«
In a new CONCITO paper we argue for using green electricity and captured CO2 separately, as:
- The climate benefit is double that of e-kerosene
- This displaces more fossil fuel
- It is more cost efficient.

What about round trip efficiency? Iβve heard theyβre unfortunately only getting about 50 %.
03.03.2025 18:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Do you have a graph showing fuel costs in USD/litre?
03.03.2025 18:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes. When assuming that the upgrading plant is paid for and in operation already itβs fairly cheap to transport and store the CO2 removed in upgrading.
