This what I mean by it takes a long time to prepare. The community prepares. That’s why unions have strike funds, so they can take care of each other. You don’t steal, you share.

That's the problem IMNSHO with the No Kings and Women's Marches. There are no clear demands, simply "we don't like what you're doing and we don't like you, either." Fine. But demonstrably, nothing changes. The ICE resistance is ongoing with direct action and it is making a difference.

My friend who moved to France says we need to differentiate between a work stoppage and a general strike. General strikes take a long time to organize properly, could be a year. And they're not for one day, they last until demands are met.

I, too, missed the first run and then watched it a few years ago. All I can think is, it might have been the first time a lot of people saw those tropes but they are common now so the show doesn't have the same feel. It's like "edgy." If every character is edgy, it's not the edge anymore.

I've lived rural in both Illinois and North Carolina and I can assure you that there are lambs. Lots of lambs. So if it isn't right for one place, it's very right for other places. If it's about nature, it's about what is around us, not what it was in another place and time.

For a long time now I have advocated for thinking about previously gendered concepts using non-gendered words. Active/passive. Giving/receiving. Absorption/expulsion. There are so many ways to express the polarity without gender.
