As part of the Fields Corner Squares + Streets planning process, the Boston Planning Department is holding an anti-displacement workshop on August 13 from 6 to 8PM in the community room at 25 Ditson Street. You can register at this link docs.google.com/forms/d/1uWi...

Our goal is to reduce the timeline for projects like this from years to months, and create more options for property owners to build a wide variety of housing types so all of our neighbors have an affordable place to live.

Dorchester couple renting micro units for $750/month Back in 2018, when the city launched a micro-unit pilot project, some saw the potential for sub-400 square-foot studio apartments as a solution to the city’s growing affordability crisis.

A great project is being proposed in Fields Corner, celebrating Dorchester’s history and making room for more neighbors.

Austin rents tumble 22% from peak on massive home building spree The Texas capital has become the poster child for advocates who say the only way out of the U.S. housing crisis is building more homes.

"Nowhere in the country have rents declined as much as they have in Austin — now 22% off the peak reached in August 2023, according to Redfin. The median asking rent is $1,399 per month, down $400 in less than three years"

#CambMA City Council just voted 8-1 to end single family zoning, allowing up to 4-stories of #housing by right citywide!

This was a comprehensive reform that also simplified our zoning.

By that I mean no step backs, no dwelling unit per lot area, no FAR, no special permits (under 75k sqft), no parking mins…

While other reforms have limited it to 4-8 units, we’re really trying to build housing!

Rather than go smaller, we decided to go bigger in a way that would result in thousands of both market rate units and affordable units.

Our high affordability requirements only penciled at 6 stories and that was our baseline.

Cambridge leading the way! Six stories as of right throughout every neighborhood!!! (More to come for TOD corridors soon!) Boston should follow this example as soon as possible! 👏👏👏

There is no street in Boston that wouldn't benefit from the addition of a bunch of three deckers, attached townhomes, or a small apartment building. We need to legalize building more of what we already have. And we need to do it with an urgency that matches the current crisis.
