I had been trying to get a literary agent to take me on to help get my book published. After I had given up, one randomly friended me on MySpace, took me on, got me a publishing deal, and we became close friends and did lots of great stuff together until she sadly died too young. Yay for MySpace!

Masterly use of the passive voice there: “it hadn’t backed itself up”. Always take positive steps to ensure your tablet / phone is backed up regularly. If creating content on mobile device, email it to yourself every day - belt and braces !

The exact same thing happened with me and a woman in a fried chicken place in Coulsden 40 years ago (but with no sobbing). She was always giving me extra breast, but when asked out said no. Mildly awkward, but way better than not having the courage to ask.

I am proud of my manipulative actions in this case 😀

I’d like to see an episode where the @watchyourrass.bsky.social team are trapped in a sci fi convention with Weeping Angels. Every time they get caught they are zapped back to somewhere way back in the classic series, and have to do all those episodes over again 😀

I don’t know about other broadcasters but on the stations I’ve worked on, news duty was usually defined by rota rather than group shower shenanigans.

I hope not literally. Otherwise his Lemon Drizzle may have to be avoided . .

We used to call them burrs when I was young.

Not a huge amount I would do differently - put in more effort in school perhaps - but there are one or two people I wish I had been nicer to along the way. Not that I was unkind, just that I could have been kinder. I try to apply the “what I wish I’d done in the 1970s” to what I should do now.

I left some thoughtful, honest, critical but constructive feedback in a similarly “anonymous” work survey in a large multinational many years ago. 4 months later I was moved sideways into a team who were then quickly TUPE’d over to another employer. Lesson learned.

I waited outside while a friend went into a building society to withdraw some cash. The staff told her to be careful leaving as there was a suspicious looking man loitering outside!

I tend to give slightly later ETAs to my wife, but only so that inevitable delays do not need expectation resetting.

Just say “I am fully behind you on a wide range of issues”.

Best Dr Who podcast in the known universe. Toni and Joe are a double-act of Robert Holmes quality.

You’re right on that one, shouldn’t have been written that way. At least Ruby, to her credit, looked very uncomfortable about that.

Well, my take on it was that *we* know that UNIT are ok. DW has not shied away from saying other military ops can be bad, but we trust this one because we’ve seen it from the inside out. That’s my personal take, appreciate that others may see it differently.

I think it’s about the fact that sometimes you can’t win, even when you should win, even when you have all the facts, as some people just won’t accept any reality other than their own. And I suspect that is strongly seeding us for the end of season “reality war”. Now, where do I collect my medal?
