A female and male Mallard duck in a grassy, wet leaf strewn backyard. Female is brown & white with an orange beak. Male has an emerald green head and yellow beak. His body is mostly white with some stripes of brown.

For #Twosday a pair of Mallards in our backyard! They are headed toward their nest in the protected wetlands behind our home, just out of sight. Hard to tell, but I think this is the same pair that returns to this same spot annually.🦆🦆

The Goldcrest, Britains smallest bird. Here it hangs off a slim twig that has the new shoots of Spring unfurling, and a backing of Spring green bokeh. His dark eye is set in pale cheeks, and its golden crest set in black feathers. Its back and wings are a beautiful mix of a greenish gold and black and this tiny bird weighs no more than a 20p piece, to catch it in a moment’s rest is never an easy achievement

Big relief to get a dump of rain overnight, it’s been so dry.
