SCOTTISH CUP
Celtic 7-1 Dundee, 1976
Montrose 2-4 Celtic, 1979
LEAGUE CUP
St Mirren 1-5 Celtic, 1981
The answer is about hat-tricks.
These players have each scored a Celtic hat-trick in both the Scottish Cup and League Cup.
Dixie Deans has a unique record being the only one to have done this in both cup finals.

Not that I've read. But they did try to get McGrory so maybe rumours abounded about others too.

Fans of the Edinburgh side sing that they were βthe first to wear the green.β
And thatβs true. Itβs just that they are just not the π―π²ππ team to have this honour.

Although Celtic are famously a Scottish club with Irish links, they are not the only one.
Dundee United β once Dundee Hibernian β also have this, and so do Edinburgh Hibernian, a club that preceded both the Glasgow and Dundee Irishmen.

By 1895, Hibernian had reached Scotlandβs top league. They have won it four times.
Hibs have enjoyed Scottish Cup success too, including beating Celtic in 1902.
This was the only time Celtic have played a Scottish Cup Final at Celtic Park.

By 1893, Hibernian were back but they no longer insisted on players being Catholic.
Later that year, they joined the newly formed Scottish Second Division.
All of this raises the question about whether Hibs are a Newco, like Rangers 2012β¦

By 1892, Hibs were restarted. They secured a new home at Easter Road.
At this time, a new Celtic Park was built. Irish politician Michael Davitt added a sod of Irish turf.
This was stolen and one Hibsβ legend says it was buried at Easter Road!

Hibs stumbled on for another couple of years, but had little hope.
In 1891, their found Edward Hannon died and soon the club was put into βHib-ernationβ.
Their SFA membership also came to an end.

Just before all of this, Hibs got a surprising offer.
Some Glasgow Irish were unhappy at the way Celtic were being run, and asked Hibs to move to Glasgow.
In the end, a new Glasgow Hibs was set up, but failed within a year.

Hibs faced other problems.
Their club secretary moved to the USA and took club funds with him.
They were also forced out of their home too.
And then in 1890, Hibs decided to not join the new Scottish League.

The bitter βHibs v Celticβ relations were evident in October 1888.
Celtic went to Edinburgh for a friendly, and players were greeted with chants of βJudasβ and βTraitors.β
Celtic won 3-0, but there was also a pitch invasion by angry fans.

Were Hibs justified in their anger at Celtic? The Edinburgh team certainly lost many players.
However, this was in the days before players were officially contracted to clubs.
Hibs also took players from other sides, notably Ayrshire team Lugar Boswell.

Three weeks later (29 May 1888), Celtic played at the ground for the first time and had a 5-2 win over Rangers.
This began to cause βeast v westβ problems, because many of the Celtic team had formerly appeared for Hibernian.

Celtic soon had a ground in which to play, and Hibs were involved in its opening.
The maiden match at the original Celtic Park took place on 8 May 1888.
Hibernian drew 0-0 with north Glasgow team Cowlairs.

Many Glasgow Irish asked why they did not have their own team.
Eventually, men like Brother Walfrid and John Glass set up a club to fund local charities.
On 6 November 1887, in a hall near St Mary's Church, Celtic Football Club was established.

Hibsβ greatest early moment came in February 1887 when they beat Dumbarton to win the Scottish Cup.
As a sign of their national popularity, they first celebrated in Glasgowβs east end β at St Maryβs Church β before returning to Edinburgh.

The Hibees had strong links with Glasgow, particularly the east end.
On different occasions, they came west to play charity games which were used to support local good causes.
This included playing at Clyde's Barrowfield ground.

The club soon rose in stature. They won local contests and competed nationally too.
The achievements of Hibernian became widely known.
They were supported by the Irish across Scotland, including in communities in Dundee, Lanarkshire and Glasgow.

In Hibsβ early years, they played at locations such as the Meadows, Mayfield Park and Powderhall.
However, in 1880, they moved to Hibernian Park. Located in Leith, this was close to the modern-day Easter Road stadium.

The new side received a mixed reception. By 1876, they had joined the Edinburgh FA, and then the Scottish FA too.
However, there was sometimes criticism in newspapers and on the pitch due to their national and religious heritage.

Hibernianβs identity was based on its foundersβ Irish heritage.
The name Hibernian came from the Latin name for Ireland and the clubβs badge was a harp.
Also, players in the team had to be members of the Catholic Young Menβs Society.

In 1873, the Scottish FA was formed. The first Scottish Cup Final took place in 1874.
Edinburghβs Catholic Young Menβs Society saw a chance to get involved in football.
On 6 August 1875, Hibernian Football Club were formed in St Maryβs Street Halls.

One notable institution was the Catholic Young Menβs Society.
An Edinburgh branch of this was opened by Father Edward Hannon, in St Patrickβs Church in Edinburghβs Cowgate.
Hannon was born in Limerick in 1836 and moved to Scotland in the 1860s.
