Also with all of the MH4-related fanservice Wilds is giving us, I'm really thinking Dalamadur or Gogmazios could be great fits.

That or some more recycled material with new Wyveria lore, perhaps an explorable tower locale? Yamatsukami? I can dream.

As much as I'd love to see Lagiacrus or Miralis brought back, I feel like Wilds isn't the right game.

Switch Axe is quite simple but can force long switch animations if you don't pay attention to your sword gauge.

The offset attack is probably the clunkiest one in the game since you can't manually delay its startup, tge sword parry has a long follow-up animation and can't chain into another one.

The Hammer buff and stance stuff were exclusive to World and Rise respectively and no longer exist in Wilds, unless we're referring to different things. Charge hit and run is really simple though.

Sword and Shield, Lance, Greatsword, Hammer and Hunting Horn are great beginner weapons, their kits are easy enough to utilize and the player learns what I'll just call core principles of commitment, positioning etc. Charge Blade, Switch Axe, Gunlance and Longsword also teach these fundamental rules of the game but their kits are more difficult to fully and properly utilize so a beginner might have a harder time starting out. Insect Glaive with its vaults and Bowguns are quite different from the other weapons mentioned so far in that they don't really follow any of the rules that other weapons do, new players starting out with these might have a hard time switching weapons. Dual Blades and Bow are evil. They kicked my dog and stole my mother's purse. Their high mobility and minimal commitment mean that a new player starting out with these will likely learn the game entirely differently. This causes a mix of unwillingness and inability to switch to other weapons, which fuel each other in a vicious cycle of low-risk, reactionary aggression in a game otherwise known for its more deliberate approach to combat. Their movesets are designed brilliantly, they're really fun and stylish and I love them. I just don't recommend them to beginners innit.

I think a lot about what weapons to recommend to beginners, mostly because for 12 years I've known that dual blades ain't it so here's a list idk thoughts?
