It NEEDS to see it again. It NEEDS to understand it again. And it will do ANYTHING to show others, and to show itself, that nothing in its tiny world matters. That are things far larger and incomprehensible than itself.

That? THAT is madness.

Echoes of things it can't comprehend swirl around its mind. Those feelings, those experiences. It doesn't understand it, but it remembers. How is it supposed to return to its former life? It can't. It's a different ant now. It's seen too much. And the more it saw, the harder it is to just forget.

It knows mirth, embarrassment, love, sorrow, many many others. It understands and knows these concepts unimaginable to it before this moment, and then, suddenly, it's an ant again. Just a simple ant. The understanding is gone, but the memory remains.

Madness comes when, even for just a moment, the ant sees as a human does. It understands the markings as symbols with meaning, as words. Like a pheromone, but infinitely more complex. It can travel unimaginable distances, to lands unlike anything it's seen before.

I think people, especially games, get eldritch madness wrong a lot, and it's really a shame.
An ant won't start babbling when they see a circuit board. They'll find it strange, sure. It's a landscape of strange angles and humming monoliths. They'll be scared, maybe, but that's not madness.

I was asked recently how I handle the bad days with my depression, and my answer is simple: Make my favorite snack and watch Game Grumps.

They may not have cured my depression, but they've certainly subsided it every single time I watch one of their videos.

That's just not true. Games have consistently gotten more expensive.
In the late 70s, early 80s, they were 20 dollars for PC.
In the late 80s, they were 30, consoles were 50.
90s, both were 50.
Early 2000s they stayed at 50, but later rose to 60, and now we're paying 70 for them.

I think it's important to remember, especially now when everything feels doom and gloom, that we have to keep going. It's tough, but we can't let the people that only wish to harm us win. And when the world is too much, it's good to enjoy yourself with your friends, away from the stress.

I recently watched The Twits on Netflix. It was an entertaining movie. Perhaps not the best, but I enjoyed it.

Some additional advice: If you're going to pirate an indie game, make sure you buy it for real when you have the money to do so.
Triple A companies, that's totally fine. Pirate all you want.
But indie companies genuinely do need that money. Pirate if you have to, but buy asap when you can.
