Last night I heard a story about someone going to a bar where she discovered her lover was having dinner with another woman. She bought and then threw a drink at him in the dining room, buying the drink for that purpose. I then started wondering, what is the best cocktail to throw at someone?

Workshop abstract from ASA program: Knowing book publishing can be an opaque process to many, we propose a panel with acquisitions editors from UC Press and other peer presses to provide advice for first-gen scholars who are just getting started. Editors will discuss topics such as: the role of an acquisitions editor, how to identify the right editor and press, when and how to approach an acquisitions editor, tips for the book proposal process, and other common questions. The objective of this workshop is to provide first-gen scholars who are working on or have recently completed their dissertation with practical tips for beginning the book publishing process, as well as familiarize them with the acquisitions editors at the participating presses.
Hello to the first full day of #2024ASA! We have lots of new books ready for you to browse at the @uncpress.bsky.social exhibit. Iβm also presenting on a panel today (11/15) about βWhere to Begin with Book Publishing: A Panel for First-Generation Scholarsβ at 2 pm in Baltimore Hilton, Johnson A.
