I am an editor here to tell you that I am sick of book proposals about AI. Pro tip: it is not always beneficial with publishers to jump in on a scholarly trend!

Oh for sure--if we're doing ALL academic books. I was just thinking of the small percentage of ones that actually get advances.

You absolutely should! Piranesi is a great intro imo and a fast read too. If you do, let me know what you think!

Pop star Bad Bunny needed a Puerto Rican history scholar. UW–Madison had just the one. Bad Bunny collaborated with UW–Madison history professor Jorell MelΓ©ndez-Badillo on Puerto Rican narratives that accompany the new album β€œDeBÍ TiRAR MΓ‘S FOToS.”

Such a good example of the wider impact of what University Press authors do! Brb gonna go pick up this @princetonupress.bsky.social title ASAP #ReadUP

Audiobook Publisher: this novel has an underlying tone of dread and despair. Would you like to fall asleep listening to it?

Me: well, no...

Audiobook Publisher: the narrator is British.

Me: oh, okay then put it on.

Apropos of nothing but one of the strangest experiences I had working at a bookstore was ripping the covers off of piles of mass market paperbacks because they were literally so cheap the publishers would rather you destroy unsold copies than pay to ship them back to the warehouse.
