日本の色／紺｜日本の季節を楽しむ暮らし 暦生活 「紺」という色の歴史は古く、『論語』郷党篇には「君子、紺取（かんしゅう）を以て飾らず。紅紫（こうし）以て褻服（せっぷく）と為さず。」（＝君子は、喪を表す色である紺や喪明けを示す色である赤茶色で衣服を飾らない。紅や紫といった派手な色が混じった衣服を着ない。）と書かれています。

日本の色「紺（こん）」
藍染を用いて表される紺はとても歴史が深く、日本人に親しまれ、「紺看板」「紺屋の白袴」「ジャパン・ブルー」などの言葉が生まれました。

"紺色を表すのには、蓼藍の葉を発酵させて「蒅（すくも）」もしくは「沈殿藍」を作り、それを甕に仕込んで更に発酵させて染める藍染を用います。"
