The program will offer a variety of fun and accessible activities—both indoors and outdoors—designed to foster a lifelong connection to physical activity while strengthening social connections and community bonds.

We’re thrilled to announce that Proud 2 Play has been successful in securing funding from VicHealth’s Growing Healthy Communities Grants! This will help us launch the Active Rainbow Families program, designed to create active, inclusive, and connected communities for LGBTQIA+ families and youth.

Got an amazing pilot project funded via VicHealth to help Rainbow Families build healthy relationships with physical activity and sport. I wrote this one from scratch, and it’ll run over 12 months from mid 2025. Very proud of my baby.

Trans people in Australia report a range of barriers that make it challenging to participate or prevent them from participating. Regular participation in sport/fitness was associated with significantly lower psychological distress and 40% less odds of recent thoughts of self-harm and suicide.

Trans Health Research and collaborators recently conducted a national survey to learn more about the experiences of trans and gender diverse people in sport and fitness.

This research shows that 1 in 3 trans people regularly participate in sport/fitness, compared to 70%+ of the general population.
