Dollar coins aren't made in circulating numbers anymore right? Have to buy from the mint or a dealer.

My kitten Allegra ("Allie") peeking up from the most uncomfortable-looking sleeping position!

After my 20-year-old Mr Squeak passed in April, I swore I'd be a 2 cat household on out.

But then in late May I was in central TX & found and adopted this adorable feral kitten [in Kerrville, at Schreiner University only a half mile downriver from the horrible flood the next month].

It's been violated twice that I know of! There was an FDR commemorative peso at the Manila mint in the mid 30s, and a Eunice Kennedy special olympics coin in the mid 90s.

The first wasn't noted for a long time because numismatics was very young in the US but the Kennedy one got immediately noticed.

So, I kinda despise tracking because that era in elementary school convinced me I was a dumb kid. But the "gifted" "talented" thing was my favorite part of all my public education, except for band.

I have mixed feelings, but it was a gifted program that really gave me a lot of confidence and set me up for college success.

In elementary school, I got put in the slow track because my cursive handwriting was so really bad and I held my pencil the wrong way.

I'm glad we can tell it's still not AI because that's back before carbon black started getting added to tires to make them last longer, and those are not hair styles AI is likely to produce.

It's gonna get harder in the future. I've lived too long.

Everyone is politically icky to me. Except maybe Jack Kemp, who as a college kid at age 19 I volunteered to help get the nomination (spoiler: it failed).

First loves are never icky.

It's all completely practical here on out. I've voted Dem 3 times in a row now.

Yeah! it has tours daily and they rent out the casitas for small-ish conferences and stuff. I go there for a small little stringed instrument workshop every year, about 25 people.

I didn't know what javelinas were the first time I saw a couple on a late night walk outside the Biosphere. I thought it was a small baby feral hog, and I froze thinking the mother might be around!

I go to the biosphere every October and I've seen all those except for a baby bobcat! We usually draw pictures of animals we've seen on the whiteboard.

I'll be there in 2 weeks (going early to stay with a friend in Tucson)!

He's never struck me as curious about any history that doesn't involve an imagined unwoke Roman Empire or Sparta.

I look forward to following the ups and downs of her career, especially how she reacts to being typecast as a trailblazing first AI actor, growing older when younger and hotter generic white AI actors take the roles she might have gotten.

3 hours of tweaking python code to get around the issue of jitter from executing a remote process, I finished!!!

Ok, after much searching, found a usb webcam in closet. Now I'm at the worst of all. I'm terrible at these games.

So I'm writing a python script that uses xdotool to simulate key presses. WHO'S THE ROBOT NOW!?

"There's a knock at your back door and you step out into the alley to find Jimmy Bats** standing next to a carpet-cleaning van. Crazy tweaker is still robbing houses the old-fashioned way. Could be six empty houses on a block and Jimmy'll hit the one that's still got people living in it. He hasn't figured out yet that people who disappeared are less likely to come looking for their stuff when it disappears. Why steal when you can just take?

"Check this out," Jimmy says. "Like brand new." He shows you a bike and a four-wheeler -- a little kids' bike and four-wheeler. You explain, with every ounce of patience you possess, that the market for children's toys has flattened out a bit since, you know, every freaking kid on the freaking planet freaking disappeared a week ago! Slick job, moron.

Regaining your composure, you calmly explain that it's not just you -- that it will be many years before anyone, anywhere, is interested in buying a kids' bike, or video games, or the complete set of Veggie Tales DVDs on the passenger seat of Jimmy's van. You explain that jewelry stolen from someone's house isn't worth half of what you could offer for clean, untraceable jewelry plucked neatly from the rumpled clothing of the disappeared and that you've already got boxes and boxes filled with such merchandise, so even that isn't worth much."

Anyone remember Slactivist's running commentary on Left Behind in the 2000s?

The one about thieves stealing a main char's raptured kid is still my favorite:

Oh, I didn't know that.

I do recall reading Cronkite offered Reagan, after his governorship, the opportunity to do commentaries on, uh.. CBS? [hard to remembering what channel everyone was on decades later] and Reagan turned him down, because the restrictions he would have.

Back around 76-77 or so, parents gave me the choice of going to Disney-whatzit, or to Colorado.

I didn't know it, but they later admitted they stacked the deck by leaving out photos of mountains and rivers and stuff all over the house.

To this day, I've never been to any Disney property!
