In response to the President’s illegal refusal to deploy emergency federal funding to keep food assistance running, I am declaring a State of Emergency.

We will surge $10 million to food banks and food bank partners across the state.

My heart goes out to everyone throughout the Caribbean who have lost loved ones and homes to Hurricane Melissa. Dawn and I continue to pray for your safety as you all work to recover and rebuild.

As our family and friends in Jamaica brace for one of of the most intense hurricanes to ever hit its shores, I join the Caribbean diaspora in praying for the safety of everyone in the path of Hurricane Melissa.

While our public servants are missing paychecks and military families are lining up at food banks across Maryland, President Trump is moving full steam ahead on his $250 million ballroom. It’s obvious: this administration is not serious about helping working people.

I’m not interested in playing political games. I’m interested in doing what’s fair for Maryland.

If the President is going to put his finger on the scale to try and manipulate elections, Maryland will do its part to make sure our maps are fair.

During this shutdown, I’m working to make sure our families get the support they need — and that no Marylander falls through the cracks. We’re going to keep showing up, keep finding solutions, and keep standing with the people who make this state strong.
