Yes they fight tooth and nail during trade period over a pick in the 40's, 50's even over sliding a few picks but draft night that changes

He knows that strategy was a risk but the reward of getting pick 11 and then kako in this super draft was worth doing it
If the club bid early you let him go and then you pick a alex tairu or a Xavier Lindsay
In reality though ess we never letting kako go once he was eligible & clubs knew it

He saying Essendon should have said to St kilda and co if you bid early you keep him
He reckons none of them wanted him instead of who they got
So he doesn't think they would bid if they know there was a risk of ess not matching the bid

Given north had no takers from pick 8 onwards for their 1st rounder until that last pick, so there was no way back in for us. Hopw we get some good talent with the picks coming up & take a strong hand into next yr

Ess caught on the hop with the academy rules changes so late also our pick was in the hitting zone to be swallowed up
If rules hadn't changed we would have had pick 11 and I think 33
We ended up getting kako (who we may well have picked with 11 anyway) pick 37, 39 and 43
And a future first rounder

Lets hope it continues tonight at least and kako goes as late as possible

No way we use the 2 x 2 rounders on the bid. Need to swap those picks out (at least one of them)

So 13 is worth 1212 points, we would get a 20% discount, so basically we would have to find 970 points. Pick 28 is 677, 31 is 606, pick 40 is 429. We will do some wheeling and dealing to get us a better hand post the bid

If I was still in melb I would hate it as would be really hard to get to the games. Given now have to watch on tv it is ok as long as we don't lose them all and ruin my weekend before it even starts!!
