Text of a message which reads:
"THANK YOU
Dear Keith,
I'd like to thank you for writing 50 AI ideas. Months back I picked up a signed copy and have read it cover to cover.
As a result of reading your book I was spurred on to taking an MA in Artificial Intelligence which I have just started."
Keep up the good work and thanks once again!
Books change lives. Very occasionally, I've heard that of my own books, & it's the most wonderful thing for an author when that happens.
Yesterday I received this message out of the blue & of course it made my day.
If a book's made an impression on you, leave a great review. Let the author know.

How many people actually approve of Kirk's murder, on BlueSky and on Twitter?
I got tired of anecdotes saying we are surrounded by bloodthirsty extremists, so I took a sample and counted.

What a terrible thing for the family to learn their son has become so radicalized he's a murderer, and for the good of society they have to turn him in. What an utter, horrific tragedy.

Oh it sounded as if you had so much to get through, it would take a whole semester!
I hope and expect you inspired some to read some books to help them go deeper.

Sounds a fun course, though The Orvill never succeeded as it should have - no surprise it's unknown. Curious why your text should be "freely available" rather than paid for?
I'm at Penguin nowadays but used to publish textbooks for Addison-Wesley. As you'll know, creating a great text is hard work.

Thanks for the link, John. Interesting stuff. Was surprised by the remark that ideas around a holographic universe are criticized by non-academics for being unscientific.

Wrong subs at the wrong time, but we always knew it would be hard. The Eustace experiment of Adams as a number 10 doesn't work - we need him and Ozoh as the defensive pivot, especially given our ageing, half-fit defence.
But what a gorgeous goal from Morris, hopefully a glimpse of what's to come.

Starmer doesn't need any help. He's out of his depth and dragging the whole country down to the bottom with him. Surely a candidate for worst PM and worst administration ever. Throughout this presser, and every day, he's just a rabbit in the headlights. 14 years of Tories then this! Frying pan/fire.

At this time every year I feel obliged to say I did once write the script for the Junior #EurovisionSongContest.
Good #Eurovision tonight from Switzerland. The UK song (WTH just Happened?) felt a bit too Taylor Swift in the fast parts, but those Remember Monday girls can sing. Hope they do well. ๐ฌ๐ง๐ฌ๐ง

A selfie lying on the grass showing bald-headed me with eclipse glasses (on top of regular glasses) and wearing a black t-shirt showing solar system orbits. It's a sunny day.
The bright orange Sun with the top right eclipsed by the Moon.
Lovely to see a bite out of the Sun from here in London. My Nothing phone did a good job of snapping it through the #eclipse glasses.

Must have agreed for someone else to come in, and didn't want it leaking out while Warne was still at the helm. Surprised Hanshaw is officially in charge for tomorrow.

In Lennon Wheeldon & Keilen Robinson we've 2 England U19 internationals in our own academy we don't give any game time to, plus other promising youngsters eg Cruz Allen whose record in youth football surpasses Armstrong's. Why develop other teams' academy products instead of our own? #dcfcfans #dcfc

The industry punches massively above its weight in terms of media profile, but the sad reality is there is not much money in publishing. It's such an interesting and stimulating industry to work in, but wages are low and hours are long. And few authors can make a good living from it full time.

The cover of Manchester band Joy Division's album "Unknown Pleasures", showing a 3D grey-scale plot of a signal from a pulsar, recorded at the Jodrell Bank radio telescope. The plot has 80 lines corresponding to measurements of the radio signal, with different heights representing the intensity. The band's name is in all caps at the top of the cover, with the album's title at the foot.

The launch window for the massive new #NewGlenn rocket opens in three and a half hours time (6am UK time). And lasts for three hours. I will be intrigued to find out how it's gone when I wake up. Wishing #BlueOrigin all the very best for the company's first ever orbital launch attempt, and landing!

Screenshot from a phone showing a history of Wordle scores. Played 666, Current Streak 666, and Max Streak 666. The win rate is 100%. Below is the distribution of the scores, with 0 correct guesses on line 1, 32 on line 2, 258 on line 3, which is in green to indicate the most recent result, also 258 on line 5, 96 on line 5 and 22 on line 6.

Intriguing issue. I'm reminded of Douglas Adams' adage about technology. Those born into an AI world will see it as the most natural thing to aid their writing and storytelling. On the other hand, in a chess tournament for instance, how much if any assistance is (Superhuman) AI allowed to give?

Thank goodness someone is speaking out about the systematic gang rape of tens of thousands of working class white girls. A shame The Guardian doesn't appear outraged by this the biggest scandal in UK history, but instead criticises people for speaking out. You'd rather we all looked the other way?
