One, Threads proved decisively the demand for a new text-based conversation app. Until this month, it was unclear that tens of millions of people even wanted something Twitter-like in their lives. Twitter itself has been in a period of steep decline, and the various clones that have sprung up in its wake have stalled out in the low millions of users. That Threads attracted so many downloads in so short a period offers compelling evidence that lots of people have been waiting for a company to do public conversations the right way.

It has the benefit of having the entire Instagram world. And it doesn't need all of it. Like I said, 20% of Instagram users use it occasionally and it's bigger than Twitter.
This one is a slam dunk.
Threads is going to win. Not because it is the best app. But because if Meta can convert even 20% of Instagram users into Threads users it'll be bigger than Twitter.
I already have a bigger community on threads than I do on Bluesky. It's close to Mastodon.
Threads isn't the best. But it will win.
It was so much better before Twitter was run by a lunatic. I only had one place to check/post. Now I have Twitter, Mastodon, Bluesky, and Threads.
