I once posed the question on the other place, "What, for you, is a 'typical' bird?"
The sparrow was the most common answer. It was mine, too. I see them less often these days in London, but they were in overwhelming abundance in my childhood in Chiang Mai.
Two juvenile giant moa (Dinornis robustus) run energetically along a beach, creating some splashes as they go. Small waves roll in behind them.

Shri rapax is the second member of the genus Shri and it is characterized by a shorter skull and robust hands with very powerful claws, especially that of the pollex (much larger than those previously known from other dromaeosaurs)

Painting on a golden-hued, buff toned square coaster of a pied peahen amid pink peonies. The peahen is mostly brown with barred feathers but has a blue-green neck, and, in common with pied coloration, has patches of white feathers interspersed throughout. She is in profile, facing left. The piece is lightly stylised with generally flat colours and fine detailing on the feather markings.
Pied Peahen & Peonies
Gouache & acrylic gouache on MDF coaster, 98 mm.
This piece ended up taking a long time for what was supposed to be relatively โsimple.โ ๐
The peahenโs neck is actually more teal-blue-green, but neither my phone camera nor my scanner were equal to capturing this.

Detail from a work in progress. A patch of long grass beneath the legs of an equine-like creature drawn in brown pencil. The technique has more to do with the dark areas between and around the blades of grass than in delineating the grass itself. The overall piece is small and intricate.
The dapples were time consuming enough that I apparently decided to pursue the same approach for the grass. ๐๐คก

Detail from a work in progress of the tail of a hadrosaur and some foliage drawn in black ink. The piece is primarily in silhouette, with the negative shapes of the white of the paper showing through in details such as the dinosaur's markings. The piece is very small and intricate.

A painting that depicts a pair of Attenborosaurus- long-necked marine reptile with flippers and tail flukes that they use to navigate the ocean and hunt fish. The pair is surrounded by ammonites, fish and other marine reptiles.
A great float of Attenborosaurus swiftly navigate their pelagic environment in their hunt for fish.
Attenborosaurus (named after Sir David Attenborough) is an extinct marine reptile that existed during the early Jurassic, it was a primitive pliosaurid, closer related to short-necked plesiosaurs.
