๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽฌ Is the book better than the movie? Did the movie improve on the book?
Were they bothโ€ฆbad?

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Weโ€™ll break it all down with hot takes, in-depth analysis, and a little unhinged funโ€“the catch is: Nisha reads the book and Alan watches the movie.

I wonder if it should have been the last rule too...

Who would you pick? Doesn't have to be a redhead, but it can't be Robert Pattinson!

Iain Belcher!
This man is exactly what I picture when I think of Jacob from the book. He might be my #1 choice because he just looks right.

Jake Austin Walker!
He's easy on the eyes, to say the least. A handsome hero brings in views, and he could make Jacob turn heads.

Rupert Grint!
He's a great actor. He's been a great actor for a while, so we know he could knock it out of the park and create a memorable character. He's also got a boyish look about him that would fit the character well.

Was Robert Pattinson the right person to play Jacob in Water for Elephants? We're not going to dish on him, but here's the thing...in the book, Jacob is a redhead. So, here are 3 red-haired actors I think could have played Jacob!

She's also referred to herself as a mother and daughter! When people speculated if she was a man, she called it out as sexism too. It's unlikely this is like Dean Koontz using pen names like Deanna Dwyer, or something like that. I think she's a great addition to the list!

The Noir Detectiveโ€™s Journey: An Adventure in Disguise

In noir, the detective is hired to do a jobโ€”usually to find someone or uncover some buried truthโ€”but the story unfolds more like a quest than a casefile.

I used to think horror films scared me, then I started watching them and they don't really get to me like I thought they did. I watched The Exorcist for the first time recently and my husband was talking about how it still creeps him out and I was like ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Annihilation is based on a book of the same name which, uncommonly, features several unnamed main characters. It's a pretty bold movie and is so easy to get wrong...

Did this book get it right though?

How Sara Gruen Lost Her Life The Water for Elephants authorโ€™s fight to free an incarcerated man left herย โ€œabsolutely broke,โ€ โ€œseriously ill,โ€ and years behind on her next book.

Remember Charles Murdoch? We briefly mentioned him during out Water for Elephants episode. But the story is so much bigger than we had time for.

Sara Gruen gave up so much in hopes that the justice system would reconsider an interesting trial--to say the least.
