Unbeliveably so, the whole tadpole gang was there for Carver when it mattered. They all had, in their own way, grown fond of that weird, unsettling, broken man.

Now that he rejected him, he fears that if he so much as think of him again, Bhaal could somehow reach him, infect him again with The Urge.

2. He doesn't think the Soulkiller in itself does erase someone's soul. Philosophically, he equates the soul with the self: the sum of one's memories, personality, beliefs. As such, he thinks Johnny still has his own, Alt probably lost it along the way and someone is robbing the Peralez of theirs.

Vince's mother was catholic. He used to pray with her as a kid but he was too young to truly understand religion and abandoned spirituality as he grew up.

2. Prior to becoming a merc in the city, Vince was a Nomad. That was enough to be classified as an outlaw but he also took part in many illegal activities, such as smuggling and underground car races. Run-ins with the NCPD are a pretty regular occourrence for him.

Vince would say his biggest flaw is his "short temper".
In reality, he's pretty good at keeping his cool but he's vindictive and prone to resort to physical violence. It's easier to blame the heat of the moment than face how hateful and cruel he's capable of being.

2. If he hadn't held into that old Paladin tome all those years, if he had different companions, if Astarion or Lae'zel had been more charismatic than Wyll or Halsin... who knows what person factory reset Carver would have become.

1.The thing is, Carver doesn't have empathy and doesn't have a moral compass of his own. He tried to suppress his urges because his parents and his fellow paladins taught him those urges were wrong and, when failing to resist them broke him, he was easily swayed by the Bhaalists into embracing them.

He was born 10 June 2049, making him 27 to 28 by 2077. His birth name was Valerie Bauer, now legally changed into Vincent Villanueva. He ditched his father's last name in favour of his mother's since he barely knew him.

Carver essentially reverted to the person he was before joining the Church of Bhaal. The only thing he had on him was a copy of Paladin Oaths and their Tenets with his name on it. From that, he figured he was a Devotion Paladin and acted accordingly.

Vince's mother was Mexican and mostly spoke Spanish to him. Within their nomad clan, most people spoke English, so he grew up speaking both long before getting his first neural implant.
