Friday comic day!

Gonna alternate "Our Babysitter Is the Baby!" with the first long comic I did for CushyPen, "Pampered in First Class!" I'll post on Fridays I'm not posting new pages from OBitB.

It follows my characters, Lydia and Sofia. It's old, but may be new to some of you!

I don't think I've made it to SD or back in 2 hours since the '00s, lol.

I try to avoid the 405 like hell but I was going back to the Valley.

I took the 15 once and it actually wasn't too bad. It's further out of the way but you do miss a lot of traffic.

Man, I am sorry, I should have recommended you take the Coastliner. It's actually pretty chill. I HATE driving to SD anymore, you used to be able to do it in 90-120 minutes and now it takes 3 hours if you're lucky. It once took me six hours on the 405.

That sucks, man, I am sorry. 😩

Ugh watching this gave me three types of residual reddit trauma.

The heat is bad but the dry air particularly just kills me. 😩 I hate August and September.

Unfortunately with the heat and dry weather, it is ~*migraine season*~.

Work's been really up and down lately, too, which doesn't leave a lot of time for posting. I'm also still mulling over which comic I want to release next for my Friday thing.

Last one was Space Marine 2, I dunno what I'd say the best was. I played a lot of Destiny and I liked Destiny, but like all Destiny players I also hated Destiny.

Ahhh this is wayback machine territory, haha. I think a lot of games looped or were too hard to beat as a little kid, so I never beat them until later? I have a bad memory, too. If I can change the question to some cool games I remember having, we had Metal Storm on the NES, a pretty rare classic!

I don't really have favorites, it's usually something that fits the requirements of the scene. I've actually had to build up a fair-sized library over the years since I do tend to get pretty specific about font choices. Once I get a general idea of what I want, nothing else works.

Following normal comics bsky and reading technical books (on stuff like lettering, f.e.) really helped a ton. Lot of great info out there.

It took me a long time to feel prepared technically to tackle comics at the speed I wanted to make them. I practiced with one-shots or short four-pagers first.

I hate long projects! Everyone wants to do a big magnum opus webcomic, but that turned out to be a really bad fit for me. I like changing around the art style and switching characters every so often.

Comic panel layout is another thing I always want to improve on. There's a lot of things, haha.

As an artist, they've all been super helpful for me personally so it's very difficult to say! I'm lucky to be near some very good examples of all three.

But really, I just needed a username to look at porn and never thought I'd post art under it, lol. I was shocked how resistant some people were to switching from it.

We needed names for CushyPen and at the time, I was using marine animals as a general theme for plushies in my drawings. I like manatees, they're big, gentle, and want to chill and eat sea grass (just like me). I also like space so I added "rocket" to make it unique.
