Donkey Kong & Pauline stand atop a palm tree on Donkey Kong Island, the ocean visible behind them. The palm is styled like the trees seen in the original Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land, as well as numerous promotional renders from Rare of that era.

Out of all of the fan-pleasing things that Donkey Kong Bananza and its DLC do, one thing I never anticipated was getting to actually climb the classic Rare-style palm trees in a 3D space.

Getting classic characters back is good, but the restoration of these chonky plastic palm leaves is sublime.

Today is DK Vine's 26th anniversary! We launched on this day in 1999, three months before Donkey Kong 64's release. However! This is the first year where I can say that we've been around long enough to cover TWO 3D Donkey Kong adventures!

Theatre seating contains a range of characters from Rare games, including Banjo and Kazooie, Conker, Rash from Battletoads, Mr. Pants, Joanna Dark and Elvis from Perfect Dark, Lesedi from Sea of Thieves, Mr. Ribs from Grabbed by the Ghoulies and various Piñatas from Viva Piñata. Some are just sat smiling, while others are getting up to mischief.
