Everyone, everywhere, has a right to defend themselves, but also to leave, to escape persecution and oppression. This is a fundamental right, the freedom of movement, a universal human right. The fascism and nationalism of borders does not nullify your right to go where you want.

One side-effect of US-centric thinking is that Americans will often get quite get upset about the idea of people leaving the country. The right-wing says you should consider it a privilege to live in the country, and the left will argue you have a duty to stay. Neither is true.

It's hard to imagine after that experience and embarrassment, that the Nobel Committee would make the same mistake again with someone like Trump and a situation like Israel's genocide in Gaza. If they do, it would likely destroy any shred of legitimacy they still have left.

So they gave the 1973 Nobel Peace Prize to Kissinger and Lê Đức Thọ, but the war didn't actually end. Fighting started again right away, Lê Đức Thọ refused to accept the award, two Nobel Committee members resigned, then even Kissinger tried to return the award. Total failure.

It's OK to be naive or inexperienced with protest. But listen and learn from those with experience. If you see people protesting and think "they should do X instead" then don't even bother saying it, go out and do X, organize it, find the people who agree, make it happen.

People who haven't learned this lesson have probably never actually been involved in movements and protest organizing because if you show up and start saying "you should..." people will rightly reply: "if you think that should happen organize it yourself, do it, take the lead."

Randos critiquing how others protest is a useless waste of time. There is zero benefit to armchair critique of what people on the ground are doing. Every time. If you want to do it differently GO and DO IT, instead of whining about it. Diversity of tactics and activism 101.

I’m not autistic, just a parent to an autistic kid w/ fairly significant support needs, but I personally find it very frustrating to see so many people fixated on preventing, reducing, or “curing” autism and neurodiversity instead of talking about inclusion + getting folks whatever support they need

There are so many things going on, but the US needs to confront the fact that Americans across the political spectrum are never going to trust the results of another national election. The US will need international monitors and that still won't overcome the issues.

States should be using these temporary restraining orders to expel ICE completely and take back control of their own National Guard to defend their residents from the fascist Trump regime. There are now Fascist states and Free states - Free states must defend their people.

Biden and Trump should both face war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide charges for funding, supporting, and joining Israel in perpetrating the atrocities in Gaza. They get no credit for pausing what they started and supported.

It's not an accident that the Trump regime is treating ICE buildings across the country like the Imperial outpost on Ghorman. They have the same function.

There are two futures opening: One, in which tech monopolist trillionaires control AI and we all live and work under their control through fascist puppet governments. Two, in which the people seize the means of production, control AI democratically, end scarcity, and are free.
