It is the politics of threat and intimidation against our independence.

kind of funny that an olympian said they are here to represent "compassion, respect, and love for others" and some people automatically knew that was a statement against them

This is a monumentally irresponsible move. Whoever advised the premier should resign or be fired.
Smith shouldn't just withdraw the threat. She should apologize for threatening to cut off Albertans' access to their own justice system.
Tomorrow.

What exactly does Danielle Smith mean when she invokes βAlbertaβs distinct legal traditionsβ?
Politically-motivated SLAPP lawsuits and wasting everyone's time litigating Craig Chandler's Facebook beefs?
one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

More Albertans MUST tell their stories!
Cancelled due to HCW shortages... TWICE... But the Premier thinks everything is fine.
She's getting very bad advice from consultants who don't work on the frontlines or in HC at all...
1/2
No clue who she thinks she's hurting with this threat, but it amounts to a direct attack on Albertans' access to justice.
If Premier Smith wants to choose senior judges, she should run for prime minister.
globalnews.ca/news/1165081...
She is her inventing a grievance to be mad about. There are no distinct legal traditions in the province. They are a common law jurisdiction like eight other provinces in the country.
Quebec has a civil code, which is a distinct legal tradition, and Alberta does not.
Alberta seeks to politicize science-based decisions about the use of dangerous poisons.
There's a pattern here.
Next thing they will want to tell judges what to do.
Oops that was last week.
