"This conceit which understands how to belittle every truth, in order to turn back into itself and gloat over its own understanding, which knows how to dissolve every thought and always find the same barren ego instead of any content - this is a satisfaction which we must leave to itself, for it flees from the universal, and seeks only to be for itself.

-Hegel, Phenomenology of Spirit

LATEST: FATF adds Kuwait and Papua New Guinea to AML Grey List - AML Intelligence THE FATF (Financial Action Task Force) has added Kuwait and Papua New Guinea to its ‘grey list’ of jurisdictions with weak AML regimes.

The Financial Action Task Force adds Kuwait to its anti-money laundering grey list.

Kuwait got off the list in 2015 only to return after a suspended parliament and a hysteric mass denaturalisation drive. Kuwait is also projecting a $32.1b deficit in their 2026-2027 fiscal budget.

Have you ever been curious about the decision by early anime distributors to bring hentai to the US, and how this decision would reverberate to indelibly alter the course of hentai in Japan itself?

New Video out now!

How Capitalism Transformed the Natural World In her new book, Alyssa Battistoni explores how nature came to be treated as a supposedly cost-free supplement of capital accumulation.

I want to know what’s true about nature. It’s not that I do the politics and therefore I lay it on Nature. I have to be sure that Nature really allows that. | Lewontin

In all Horkheimer’s drafts (40/41) for the ISR’s “Research Project on Anti-Semitism,” a whole section (II) of the project is dedicated to a crit of Zionism—treated as the middle between (I) past wrong/one-sided theories of AS & (III) openly anti-Semitic theories of AS

finally finished the complete rework of Adorno-Horkheimer’s ‘42 schemata promised last spring! will be presenting them @ the UCB Adorno series on the 23rd, arguing they show Marx is key to Dialectic of Enlightenment exactly where commentators claim A&H break with Marx! 🔗 ⬇️

There is already a lot of literature on this very question as you know, but I think two things are missing from it: 1) a concept of natural history 2) a tethering with the history of the sciences; all in service of a critique and theory of society.

This is a great essay that you should read after reading the things it is responding to, but it’s screaming from the top of its lungs for a proper critical theory of technology. It also helps in sketching the contours on what needs to be tackled
