Russian appologists have a notion in their appologies that russians are like a berserk animal, if you provoke it it will go and rape and kill and destroy. Russians do however have agency. And they choose to do what they do. So no amount of whataboutism will change the rapes, murders and destruction.

Witkoff saying that the overwhelming majority in the four Ukrainian regions (Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk) voted to be part of Russia is preposterous. The 2022 referendums were sham. The majority in Zaporizhzhia live in areas under Ukrainian rule where there was no referendum at all.

The thought that without Zelenskyi the Ukrainians would just give in is absurd.

So how do you get a ceasefire? The answer was always the same: Through immense economic and military pressure on Russia. And yes, it will take more Ukrainian lives and yes it will take a lot of western money. But the result would be long term peace. Anything else is a bandage for Russians to rearm.

Everyone is talking about sending troops ”for the ceasefire” but I think they mean ”after the ceasefire”. Technically the hardest part would be to actually GET a ceasefire. And there is no easy way to do it, since Russians will do all they can to avoid it (because of subsequent EU troops in Ukraine)

I hate to further correct myself but that titanium spine of Zelensky just grew thousandfold in my humble mind after his stand against in the oval office. The man will be remembered for hundreds of years. Trump not so much.

4. Cannot be resold unless both sides agree (for example, the U.S. can’t sell its part to Russia)
