Who’s going to save local newspaper archives?
Archivists worry in particular about photographs that have never been digitized.
"Newspaper archives are at risk around the United States. Sometimes the threat is a natural disaster ... but archives are more commonly lost when newspapers shutter, move to smaller offices, or are purchased." tinyurl.com/2kvryasm

An excerpt from Marilyn Hagerty's Olive Garden review in The Grand Fork Herald in 2012: “The chicken Alfredo ($10.95) was warm and comforting on a cold day. The portion was generous. My server was ready with Parmesan cheese.”
Marilyn Hagerty — who didn’t give a flying breadstick what the cynics thought — became a national celebrity when her review of a North Dakota Olive Garden went viral. She has died at age 99. nyti.ms/3IgHbYF

Our colleagues at the @AP are the best in the business, total professionals and straight as they come. Since I started covering the White House in 1996, no president has punished a mainstay of the press pool to enforce his personal choice of what words they use in their stories.

As a global news organization, The Associated Press informs billions of people around the world every day with factual, nonpartisan journalism.
Today we were informed by the White House that if AP did not align its editorial standards with President Donald Trump’s executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, AP would be barred from accessing an event in the Oval Office. This afternoon AP’s reporter was blocked from attending an executive order signing.
It is alarming that the Trump administration would punish AP for its independent journalism. Limiting our access to the Oval Office based on the content of AP’s speech not only severely impedes the public’s access to independent news, it plainly violates the First Amendment.
The @apnews.com was barred from covering the Trump-Musk event in the Oval Office because it has not adhered to Trump's edict renaming the Gulf of Mexico. www.ap.org/the-definiti...

Big news: The @AP is now responding to claims made in a new movie by Gary Knight — that just premiered at Sundance — that raises questions about the authorship of one of the most iconic images in photojournalism, “The Terror of War.”

Brooks: Iowa and Canada want to take over Minnesota. Can you blame them?
Excuse me, despite what the windchill might indicate, we are not actually Greenland.
An Iowa politician wants to annex the bottom nine counties of Minnesota. He'll have to take them from our cold, dead hands.

Good article, but it's amazing the media, including the NYT continually gave voters the impression the economy was terrible by always focusing on bad news.
The media failed to fairly cover Joe Biden and in effect, failed this nation into authoritarianism.
