Putin and Trump might think that they can do a new Yalta and divide the world, but they don't have the power to enforce it. It's a bit like trying to sell your neighbor's house.

Iโ€™m tempted to say โ€œdear mgr, list all unique mistakes, that you dont want to see. But it has to have a fixed end, so that we can meet the deadlinesโ€. Or having them make a prioritized list or something.
Sorry for being a bit blunt :) hope you can rephrase this and find a way to use it.

A Better ROI for testing In classic test techniques and test approaches the test activity is a scarce ressource. Due to time and money constraints a risk-based priority was always required to make ends meet. We now have thโ€ฆ

That is just plain wrong. I understand your frustration!!
To have 100% you need to have countable things that ends.
So all pages, all Input field, all possible inputs, all color combinations etc - sure. Letโ€™s do the math on every pixel on every resolution..

Denmark public IT infrastructure relies heavily on MS etc. Many Security ppl are looking into this, yet we need the viable front runners.

Genuine question: is our reliance on these corporations - our institutional reliance in particular - really necessary? Why do I have to use Microsoft products (Outlook, Office)? Are there really no options for providing these basic services? The way we are dependent on these companies is disturbing.

That we are only taking a sample. We select based on some coverage decision, what to test. (And often itโ€™s hunch based).
That we only test in-sprint stories or or two tests pr story etc.
but at least we are aware that we sample

Since exhaustive testing is impossible what does testing everything in the system actually mean in practice? Does it refer to verifying all functionalities, UI elements, buttons, or does it mean covering every possible user scenario?

Awesome - thank you for sharing. It can indeed be with little direct feedback. An ungrateful when we work hard to resolve challenging issues.
I sounds to me you got the an eye for the right things. Keep at it! One trick could be to collect your wins in list/diary to help you remember

"So from an executive perspective, lighting comically large piles of money on fire trying to teach graphics cards how to read is, surprisingly, the logical play. The rest, well, thatโ€™s all just creative marketing."

This is basically what I do for most talks. Technical title, few buzzwords, leaning into the techbro vibe, all of that

Then I show up in a ballgown and talk about social skills and leading people with empathy and humanity

Because yes, thatโ€™s also technical skills, and tech can be feminine too ๐Ÿ’…

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

Meta brought AI to rural Colombia. Now students are failing exams When Meta embedded AI bots in its apps, even students in the most remote corners of Colombia gained access. But rather than boosting learning, itโ€™s getting in the way.

the enshittification of education is underway

I have another post about Substack that's gone semi-viral on LinkedIn and like HALF of the comments are people who had NO IDEA Substack was bad.

Clearly we need to restate the facts more often

In parenting, management, friendship, and relationships, people say โ€œjust showing up is the biggest part of itโ€œ

This is true!

They also donโ€™t mention how hard it is to consistently show up for everything.

I've been in the cycle where I set up everything to get me instant updates of the state of the world and my corporate life. And it fucking destroyed my mind. This is how humans function. Notifications are a cancer I've been iteratively excluding more and more.

People riding bikes along a canal in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Posts about urban biking in Dutch cities are routinely replied to with something like โ€œwell, they have the big advantage of being relatively flat.โ€

The Dutch also have the big advantage of not constantly making excuses about why they canโ€™t make clearly smarter decisions.

Getting off US tech: a guide Iโ€™m in the process of dropping US tech services. Hereโ€™s how I did it, and options you should consider.

Silicon Valleyโ€™s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we canโ€™t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, Iโ€™ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
