This is why I think the next Democratic president needs to use the EXACT tools that SCOTUS has handed Trump. Don't leave room for any distinctions.

Impound funds for deportation. Give ICE the USAID treatment. Refuse to collect government-backed debt. Purge MAGA loyalists from the executive branch.

screenshot of an article, text reads; How Trump and his advisers intend to staff such a program would make a prospective Trump deportation campaign even more volatile. Stephen Miller, Trump's top immigration adviser, has publicly declared that they would pursue such an enormous effort partly by creating a private red-state army under the president's command. Miller says a reelected Trump intends to requisition National Guard troops from sympathetic Republican-controlled states and then deploy them into Democratic-run states whose governors refuse to cooperate with their deportation drive.
Such deployment of red-state forces into blue states, over the objections of their mayors and governors, would likely spark intense public protest and possibly even conflict with law-enforcement agencies under local control. And that conflict itself could become the justification for further insertion of federal forces into blue jurisdictions, notes Joseph Nunn, a counsel in the Liberty & National Security Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law

Part of what's happening now was laid out by Stephen Miller on a podcast with Charlie Kirk in early 2024, then shortly after in an article on Feb 8 from The Atlantic. Trump's court losses only lead to further blurring of the lines between "legal" and overt dictatorial power.

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

I feel like a broken record, but I have to keep saying it over and over again: a farmer bailout won’t do much of anything because the market is gone. There will be no incentive to plant next year.

The bailout will help payoff farmer debt to the banks. That’s all.

The worst part about the AI bubble popping is how many average people will be affected by the economic fallout. People will lose their job, kids will go hungry, and families will lose their homes. Yet these billionaire bastards won't feel a thing other than a decline in their net worth.

Astonishing advance by the Greens, astonishing implosion of Labour. When will Starmer's government get the message that it is destroying its base with deeply unpopular, rightwing policies?

By chasing Reform, it legitimises the far right while delegitimising itself.

you'd think a prominent news outlet like the New York Times might mention that "antifa" isn't an actual organization in a long story about antifa, but nope!

and the subhead helps props up a false claim this professor was up to something seedy as something up for debate

Remember all of the ghouls who denied this was happening and did everything they could to make the problem worse from JK Rowling to Wes Streeting. The NHS who did a stitch up report to hide the growing number of suicides from trans youth on the waitlists. They should never be forgiven.

Just want to remind everyone that little moments of joy are so important right now.

For instance, my cat does not understand the human concept of kisses beyond Incoming Nose = Love. So every time she’s happy, she’ll smush her face or shove her nose into ours.

Please share your joys with us.
