I feel like Iβm one of the few people not mad at trump for not talking about lowering prices cause I knew from the beginning he had no plan for that

08.01.2025 23:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0All it takes is the governor of New York or California to save America
1) open primary ranked choice voting
2) $400 voucher to publicly fund elections
3) pay people $25 to vote in each primary and general election
This assumes far left And: hunger, inequality and corporate profit are mutually exclusive
08.01.2025 23:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0California needs a governor that will take a wrecking ball to bad regulations out of control spending and 2018 style dei stuff
That may sound republican but the shit you hear even as a social democrat is RIDICULOUS
I find it so weird that religion is basically never discussed in the American left anymore
When I was growing up atheists were on a crusade
Why America should try to expand its states:
1) free trade is mutually beneficial that makes nations greater than the sun of their parts
2) but it creates national security issues
Adding states is like free trade without downsides
I really hope trump weirdly obsesses over expanding the number of states

Switching to a flat tax system would raise taxes on poor people yes
But defeating the Byzantine US tax code is worth it and I think itβs something only a republican can do

23.11.2024 17:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Um I said that. Cory would have to run as a moderate. And would have to wrestle the spot from someone that embodies the role better
A moderate could possibly win the primary but in a close election where Middle East chaos is in the public psyche. The current dem stance hurts not help
You donβt have to say Israel is a racist settler colonial apartheid state, wear the scarf join a protest and promise the abolition of the state of Israel
That could win a primary but I admit that ainβt it for winning
I will admit appealing to them doesnβt win the general election audience
But if you canβt appeal to them and you arenβt a moderate you arenβt winning a primary
And there is a way to appeal to both by saying you will end the wars, follow the US humanitarian law, and end foreign lobbying
Also you cannot ignore that a lot of what contributed to the public not being as left wing on Gaza was the fact Biden was doing it and his position becomes the default position of half of America
With no party leader debate will be more free and I donβt think the dem base will like what they see
So in summary: in a scenario where Gaza is still a live issue by 2027
1) The dem stance on foreign policy is terrible with working class voters
2) you cannot win a dem primary with that stance while being in the progressive or center progressive lanes.
Now on to Cory I believe heβs boxed out of the progressive/center progressive βlaneβ (how he ran in 2020) his only avenue is the moderate lane because Pip voters and media will not be forgiving on arms sales votes.
Heβd have to wrestle the moderate lane from people who fit that role more naturally
Progressives in a primary (Pip) and the general are indeed two different things. In fact I think all of them voted for Kamala and see the choice between trump and Kamala on Gaza the way you and I do
I was saying that the dem stance was terrible for winning working class voters in a general
I didnβt type that as a serious argument that trump will be better for Gaza. Just that that is how an average swing voter looks at these kinds of things in a two party system
Political organization that want to win need to accept that that is how voters think
Youβre taking their positions at face value but thatβs not how voters especially low info voters see it.
Itβs simple no wars under trump, trump talks about how war is bad and that under him there will be peace
Atrocity currently happening under Kamala & Biden, they wonβt stop it for a whole year
The space enthusiasts want us to get excited looking at IO
And that bitch looks like if throw up was a planet
Iβm not saying most working class people can point to Gaza on a map or know when Israel was founded.
But Gaza undermines any moral case of decency the dems had. Joe Biden and Kamala were not decent human beings to a lot of people because they refused to commit to stop the wars
The layman still sees spending money as casusing inflation
The appearance of spending money on immoral wars, trans surgeries, immigrants etc while working people are struggling and they arenβt being helped in ways they can see is what makes those issues potent.
Thatβs the thing. In an environment where economics arenβt solid (their opinion) and you are trying to win. You canβt appear as if foreign engagements that they donβt agree with matter more than you and are sucking up recourses.
I think immigration is similar. They only cared so much bc of prices
