I don't think it's possible to exercise protectionism at a retail level.

In most cases there is no equivalent product/service, and if there is, it's not a comparable price. Things are made where it's most efficient to make them.

The Canadian identity, as I understand and celebrate it, is that anyone can be Canadian, while maintaining their individual/community identity, as long as we all respect each other and nurture a feeling of belonging.
