๐ŸŒฟโ˜• Spring! Pah! It's Springing Time ๐Ÿƒ

.. and I am looking forward to it.. !! Boing ๐Ÿƒ

"Springing time" was the C14th term for spring, referring to the sprouting of plants. Over time, it was shortened to spring-time in the C15th & then later spring in the C16th...

One month and a bit to go... ๐ŸŒท ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒท

Yes - we had a little where we were prior to moving here but it is a haven here. This was taken from the College sports centre

๐ŸŒฟโ˜• Good morning ๐ŸŒž

It can be fun to look up!

Globally there are over 900 mistletoe species. Seen here, viscum album is the only species native to the UK

It is parasitic, growing in round clusters on other trees to survive ๐ŸŒฟ

Snow drop in January. Triple heads against a mossy lawn in low light

Snow drop in January. Triple heads against a mossy lawn in low light

๐ŸŒฟโ˜• Galanthus comes from the Greek ฮณฮฌฮปฮฑ (gala) for milk & แผ„ฮฝฮธฮฟฯ‚ (anthos) for flower

The word snowdrop is German Schneetropfen (snow-drop), from the tear drop shaped pearl earrings popular in the 16th & 17th centuries

Enjoy the ๐Ÿ“ธ of my "Girls With the Pearl Earring" taken in my garden this morningโค๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒฟโ˜• Good morning๐ŸŒž

I hope you enjoy another of my walking photos around Cheltenham. This is taken near The Suffolks at the back of Baker & Graze (great bread!)

The origin of the word alley is late Middle English, from Old French alee "walking or passage" & aller "to go".. apt really!

I've now just read the story rather than a misremember! Thank you ๐Ÿ™
Interestingly mouth to mouth was used way back in the 1700s & watermen certainly in the UK were trained in it. Mary Wollstonecraft survived because of CPR & some think that Mary Shelley's Frankenstein was influenced by that ๐Ÿ’€
