Compression socks can have side effects. Maybe Texas needs to ban them too.

Testify in Congress, thatโ€™s a start. Next, testify in court after criminal charges are filed

Obama did deport more than Trump has. People really hated inflation under Biden even if we did better than the rest of the world recovering from COVID. I donโ€™t knowโ€ฆlots of stuff at play

This kind of moment is why the Right is harping on her Taiwan answer. They want their followers to focus on unimportant things to distract from AOCโ€™s strengths and her message

Shooting it was quicker and when you see an animal as a thing like an old toaster or a broken plate, itโ€™s an easy choice to kill it. Thatโ€™s pretty sick.

Tariffs are the leverage he uses to boss other countries around. He knows who pays. He doesnโ€™t care. Heโ€™s just using them as a tool to bully and selling them as Godโ€™s gift to us because his base are stupid people

Prince Andrew's Arrest Across the pond in Britain, justice and accountability is a serious matter

Never in a million years did I ever fathom when I resurrected the Epstein story in 2018 that it would lead to first arrest of a British Royal in four centuries. Not since King Charles I was arrested in 1647.

Feed algorithms are widely suspected to influence political attitudes. However, previous evidence from switching off the algorithm on Meta platforms found no political effects'. Here we present results from a 2023 field experiment on Elon Musk's platform X shedding light on this puzzle. We assigned active US-based users randomly to either an algorithmic or a chronological feed for 7 weeks, measuring political attitudes and online behaviour. Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions, particularly regarding policy priorities, perceptions of criminal investigations into Donald Trump and views on the war in Ukraine. In contrast, switching from the algorithmic to the chronological feed had no comparable effects.
Neither switching the algorithm on nor switching it off significantly affected affective polarization or self-reported partisanship. To investigate the mechanism, we analysed users' feed content and behaviour. We found that the algorithm promotes conservative content and demotes posts by traditional media. Exposure to algorithmic content leads users to follow conservative political activist accounts, which they continue to follow even after switching off the algorithm, helping explain the asymmetry in effects. These results suggest that initial exposure to X's algorithm has persistent effects on users' current political attitudes and account-following behaviour, even in the absence of a detectable effect on partisanship.

A new paper shows that less than 2 months of exposure to Twitterโ€™s algorithmic feed significantly shifts peopleโ€™s political views to the right.

Moving from chronological feed to the algorithmic feed also increases engagement.

This is one of the most concerning papers Iโ€™ve read in awhile.

It is such an odd thing to say. Like why would anyone first, comment on a personโ€™s age and attractiveness in a setting like this, and second point out that heโ€™s not attracted to men? Weird WTF thing to say even for him

Kinda weird that the party that controls the House, the Senate, and the White House claims there's rampant voter fraud.

Itโ€™s pretty common for the party in charge to be blamed for economic struggles and for voters to swing the other way. Dems did not do enough to explain that the US did better than the rest of the world recovering from COVID, but inflation also sucked. Rs will get the blame this time too, justifiably
