Today, in insects that don't look real, but are, we have a small leafhopper nymph found on a night hike in the rainforest.

A pile of books on a dining table, in front of a Christmas tree. The Christmas tree is decorated with fairy lights, a glittery mushroom decoration and a decoration flamingo with a Santa hat on. The books are Birds and Us by Tim Birkhead, The Show Leopard by Peter Matthiessen, While Flocks Last by Charlie Elder, H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald, The Last Rhinos by Lawrence Anthony, Vesper Flights by Helen Macdonald and Tickets For The Ark by Rebecca Nesbit.
An absolutely β¨excellentβ¨ haul of nature writing from the charity shops this week!π€©
I've already read Vesper Flights and loved it - so I've got high hopes for the others!
Does anyone have any other great nature writing book recommendations??ππ±
The podcast artwork of Planty Planty Zoo Zoo. Steph and Connor, the hosts, stand in front of a pair of zoo gates with the podcast title on top. There are several animals and plants in the background, including a giraffe, a macaw, a hummingbird, a praying mantis, a tortoise, a rhino, daffodils, ferns and a palm tree.
We're here and we're (mainly) hypothetical!π€©
Planty Planty Zoo Zoo is a podcast where we add a species of animals and plant to our dream (hypothetical) zoo and botanic garden each episode!π¦π΅
We also invite some great guests on for interviews!

Connor stands in front of a bank of green trees, with a blue morning sky above him. He wears a green hoody and a green and black coat with the Avon Wildlife Trust logo on them.
I also co-host @plantyplantyzoozoo.bsky.social with @stephintonature.bsky.social, a nature podcast about zoos and botanical gardens and the species that live in them!πΏπ
Looking forward to building a community on here and connecting with other big nature nerds - come say hi!π¦
Connor stands in front of a background of plants in a botanical garden, he wears a jumper with a toucan and a tiger on.
Connor, wearing a blue jumper and blue trousers, kneels down to feed Alonso, a white-nosed coati.
Time for an intro on here!π¦
I'm Connor, a zoo educator at Bristol Zoo and youth officer at Avon Wildlife Trust - passionate about telling nature stories and meaningfully involving young people in decisions for nature!π±
Love learning more about the world around us - currently on a big bird kick!π¦
