Curious: why the choice of YouTube after a long time using Bluesky?

Weirdly, that happened without much coverage of it. When I used Twitter, LinkedIn was in the background and cut off from my academic activities. Now it's very much in the foreground!

The advantage of having an established user base... I suspect that many academics who left Twitter just resurrected their LinkedIn accounts instead of making Bluesky accounts.

I saw a student submission with seven em dashes in one brief report. You betcha I was flagging that for the instructor to review.

Will do. Curious to know the % of people (publishing researchers) who view their Altmetrics Score AND discussions (concrete posts)... Predicting very few...

Altmetrics provides that data, but I was interpreting the quote above differently. I mean that as discussions unfold, without users' needing to do much work, they should be given summaries somewhere of discussion (not just the Altmetrics Explorer feed).

I acknowledge that my position is radical.

Not sure, but holiday season and volunteer moderators may make it tough. I like to monitor daily and post again in a more neutral way if it didn't make it through. The user experience could certainly be better, yes. In the meantime, it's a good opportunity to try: paperstars.org .

From the people who brought you Dishonesty scholar is dishonest in their lab, here's Ethics scholar fakes references in ethics journal.

Scholarly publishing is both comedy and tragedy.

Published in 2015, but still true.

"Currently there is no mechanism for an author to be alerted to discussions of his or her article on social media."

"The key goal... involve the entire community - authors, editors, and the target audience...

A few days, max. But moderators can be swamped, so give it another shot at the end of the week. Sometimes, comments are erroneously marked for deletion and sometimes spicier comments are approved.

If rejected, no it doesn't say "awaiting moderation" forever.
If approved, I have never been notified.

If bluesky and Twitter have taught me anything, it's that every discipline is the worst at analyzing data, except for all the others.

#ResearchIntegrity also works. I like SciComment too. I find the critical posts from this Bluesky List helpful.

Incidentally, I'm tackling the same issue for my upcoming dissertation. I belive the key lies in create a special evidence synthesis ecosystem divorced from traditional scicomm.

Overall, I'm enthusiastic to use this kind of artefact to drive the development of scholar-owned publishing platforms.

I've been using tools like Claude Code for AI-assisted coding lately, but always with an eye on what is being done.

The results are genuinely impressive, but each tool requires special care.

If you're using Google Antigravity, airgap it to avoid file deletions.
