i also want to offer this perspective on tpot in contrast to outside onlookers who attempt to describe the group in terms of WHO the members are (e.g. "OMG PMARCA 0HP NICK LAND" """membership""" outrage), rather than WHY the members are

ofc it is highly reductive to describe a group in terms of an overall attitude toward discourse, because groups grow by satisfying needs across a network

but the questions/answers can reveal the underlying psychodynamics driving each group's expansion

rephrased in terms of basic questions:
- rationalists say "thou must agree (cf. Aumann)"
- postrats say "thou must disagree, or at least be a little suspicious, because words are fake"
- tpot says "thou must maintain a vague positive attitude even if disagreeing (bc twitter is already mad & stuff)"

hence the extra post-

how i would describe the basic historical arc that produced tpot:
- the rationalists are orthodox thinkers (who aim to eradicate feeling)
- the postrats are skeptical thinkers (who mostly feel shitty)
- tpot is orthodox feel(-good-)ers (who occasionally think skeptically)
