Today, our Housing Advice Development Partner, Jonathan, is at the financial health drop-in at the Bridge Community Centre.

Jonathan will be there until 12 pm, offering advice on all things housing and debt.

Unfortunately, there are a number of shortcomings that need to be addressed to allow the strategy to deliver on the opportunity it could be.

Alongside a new approach to how the Draft Strategy frames poverty, the vision and the key pillars should be amended to prioritise and support prevention.

We must ensure that the Anti-Poverty Strategy recognises that the housing crisis in Northern Ireland is contributing to a significant number of people falling into poverty.

The Strategy should be reshaped to ensure it aligns with the objectives of the PfG and other strategies that tackle poverty, and include the development of cross-departmental, time-bound and measurable actions to address the root causes of poverty in Northern Ireland.

Housing Rights has submitted our response to the Draft Anti-Poverty Strategy.
