I'm not sure if they need permission, but it emboldens Trump who can apparently do whatever he wants to retaliate for this perceived wrong. So in reality, be sure the Reagan Foundation disagrees, they can wield the President to bash their foes.

If one company does it right, but makes less money as a result, they will be bought by the less-scrupulous company with more money. Not enough consumers care about anything but price, and healthcare costs are so indirect and limited you can't even steer your dollars ethically if you wanted to.

What do I know and I'm not saying it's a magic bullet or anything like that but it sure seems to me that Dems should run hard on the Argentina bailout. Not anywhere near the worst thing Trump has done, but i suspect it's unusually clarifying.

You seem defending a point that I didn't see made in this discussion. The OP was saying they've only had negative experience with AI and in one use case. I only cautioned to not be biased against AI with such a myopic perspective. That's not hype. That's calling for objectivity.

Your post is dripping with derision. Software developers _are_ benefitting from it, and that isn't hype. One study found a 20% increase in productivity. That that is one narrow field.

Note that THIS software developed didn't hype.ir.

You don't think there is hype around AI? Yes, there are scientific studies being done as well, but you can't open a news feed without positive or negative hype about AI.

Agreed. CEOs buying the hype think they can lay off workers and have AI do it for them. It will work for about a month until the tangled mess produced by iterative AI has a mistake and no human can understand how to untangle it.

I think I know what you mean about the trap. An example is that new StackOverflow content is drying up (which means AI is cannibalizing its own sources).

But this is only something that _could_ happen.

There is hype around AI, both around what it can do for us, and what harm it can do to us.

As a dinosaur, I dismissed AI as a curiosity. Then my college-age child told me how they prompted AI to do mock interviews based on a description to prepare them for real job interviews. It helped them be more prepared and less nervous. So then I put aside my preconceived notions and tried it.

I certainly do use it for work, but that's not the end of it. When I was researching backyard grills for my personal use, or drafting a sales agreement for the sale of private property, that was personal use.

You should really research what you can do with AI. It can be useful professionally and personally. Like any tool, it can be used for good or evil. Don't let yourself fall into a bias trap.
