and just to circle back to the first thing i said, i think you have to like the tomie character, but the first tomie film to me, is perfect encapsulation of what i like in how j horror usually presents stories, its not scary and its pretty slow, but worth a try

Ive had 0 luck with Nakata so far lol as far as j horror goes ive mostly been getting into tomie. i know koji shiriashi has a series of found footage films you can see on yt

Id also recommend tsukamoto just for insnaity, and in case you havent seen it, videodrome its a very abstract horror gem

But if you want specifically horror, and dont mind if its less comedic than house might i suggest some Shaw Bros horror? because boxers omen is pretty insane. you might get some hooks from that

Personally, and its a bit different, but the late run of films he did was some of his best work. my fave is casting blossoms but hanagatmi and labyrinth of cinema are popular. If you want something closer to the 2 you have seen then maybe try the girl who conquered time!

When checking your classic tweet watch thread you have missed pitch black and nosferatu? at least, i dont see them logged. possibly why the diary stat doesnt match your personal logs, if 10 are missing

just did some further testing and the diary count does infact account for multiple watches of the same film. so providing you logged everything with dates 547 should be accurate, what i notice though, is your last 3 reviews of the year go 553, 555, 557 so it seems some logs are missing?

I would say they are more ghost related but some of them have more demon like abilities. Its a mixed bag since each has a different crux to it
