I like the 2011 remake of FRIGHT NIGHT quite a bit, but every time I see folks declaring it an unimpeachable masterpiece that's better than the 1985 original, I have 3 thoughts...

1. That they're insane.
2. That they clearly haven't watched the original recently.
3. The remake is the 3rd best one.

New SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is fucking great. We still get an axe-wielding Santa Claus, but it's with some fun, interesting turns along the way.

MUZZLE (2023) A sincere look at grief and interspecies friendship with a few action beats. Eckhart is pretty great here. Also stars Nick Searcy, an actor I've always enjoyed despite our many arguments on Twitter that eventually led to him blocking me because he's a weak-ass conservative douche.

KIDCO is great fun! Both are HBO daytime favorites of mine that I've seen dozens of times. And yeah, I have a dvd boot of SAVAGE too, but I'd love a nice cleaned up release!

Well hot damn. Been a minute since I could say these words, but the new Jackie Chan movie is fucking fantastic! THE SHADOW'S EDGE has killer fights with cleanly shot action, bloody knife work, and effective emotional beats. Chan and Leung Ka-fai rule together, and Zhang Zifeng pops off. Love it.

CEMETERY WITHOUT CROSSES still isn't talked about enough imo. I get it, it's a spaghetti western made by a French guy, but don't let that stand in the way of appreciating the sad beauty of its dark revenge story. Filled with powerful, dialogue-free stretches and bookended by a killer theme song too.
