It’s paying a bit more than what is owed each month but if it’s a new loan, most of your payments are going to interest and escrow anyway. Very little is going to the principal so paying next month’s principal as well isn’t much more. And like she said, it adds up fast. Takes a lot off the back end.

I did my refi back in early 2008. And that was just to get my husband‘s name off the house after a divorce. I have no clue what interest rates are now. But paying extra is an excellent way to reduce the amount of everything.

It’s true, they are, lol. BUT, I think he actually believes that the rest of us believe what he says as well. Or is at least trying to convince us.

Yeah, that’s another great way to bring down the cost. And you don’t get penalized for paying early either. It decreases the principal and shaves off a lot of the interest payments as well.
