28.05.2025 18:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Working on something different today. One jump ring broke off of this stained glass (not mine) and while I was tempted to try and repair it with rosin core solder I decided to get the proper solid core solder and acid? flux.
04.04.2025 17:39 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I see a couple rolls of 2mm on Amazon but for delicate repair work this is still huge.
04.04.2025 17:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Stained glass folks. Why is solid core solder for stained glass absurdly large diameter? 3mm or 1/8" seems to be the standard.

26.03.2025 16:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Why don't modern CAT6 keystones have strain relief for the cable? Is this style of keystone considered acceptable for enterprise networking? Who makes enterprise-grade keystones? This one is from Cable Matters. For years Monoprice keystones had a zip tie but newer version doesn't.

12.03.2025 21:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Also can someone tell Illinois Capacitor that this table isn't a substitute for a series chart?
12.03.2025 21:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Working on something today. I've been doing a lot of recapping recently and was getting tired of Googling pdfs. mightyohm.com/wiki/referen...
12.03.2025 20:47 β π 6 π 3 π¬ 2 π 0That's a great question! I'd argue no... not "gas tight". I need to look into this.
12.03.2025 18:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You know how those cheap Chinese alligator clip leads have folded and crimped wires? Turns out the American ones are like that too. I'm surprised to see this instruction sheet from Mueller. Can't we get an alligator clip that has a proper double crimp for conductor + insulation?
12.03.2025 08:07 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I guess? Two pihole servers going 24x7 for years. Haven't had an SD fail yet.
28.02.2025 22:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I find it very disappointing and surprising that there is still no officially supported in-situ upgrade path for Raspberry Pi OS. They expect you to write the new version of the OS to an SD card and copy over your config changes. Coming from Debian/Ubuntu, this is insane.
26.02.2025 20:17 β π 12 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Yes, I'm learning this. However, when the leads are very close to the PCB it can be tricky to get the nozzle onto the end of the lead without damaging the PCB!
22.02.2025 19:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm not a fan of PCBs with leads that are bent tightly against the PCB. Makes desoldering difficult! Sony loved this technique and used it on lots of boards. Sometimes I just cut the part off and remove the leads one by one!

14.02.2025 18:02 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Is anyone looking for a firmware upgrade kit for their HP 8753D? I have just one left and due to the difficulty sourcing EPROMs I will not be making more. www.ebay.com/itm/16664817...
06.02.2025 19:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Here's the bottle.
30.01.2025 00:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Alternative packaging actually mentions DuPont. This is also known as CFC-113.
30.01.2025 00:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Anyone looking for Freon-TF? This is an inexpensive source. Label on the bottle confirms it is TFTCE. Look up SDS if you are unfamiliar with handling this stuff. www.ebay.com/itm/16657923...
30.01.2025 00:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In my case the PSU went bad. I should have done more testing to try and figure out why it failed.
