The primary problem with American evangelicalism is not that it is too evangelical, but that it is far too American.

The values and aspirations of the American empire are given religious sanction in the evangelical church. This the very opposite of what it means to be a prophetic people.

Thats how you get this “jesus.”
Jesus was not white.
He did not speak English.
He carried a cross not a gun.
He chose to love his enemies rather than kill them.
That's the real Jesus.
This is an idol.
