Can we just spare a thought, too, for the official end of News Corp as a political force. No one outside an aging political class pays any attention to them.

I think watching Tim Wilson lose on election night, then thinking heโ€™s won and floating leadership ambitions, to losing again by a handful of votes could triumph the sheer joy of watching Dutton losing Dickson.

Down to 400 votes now! Cmon Zoe.

Saying that Trump is the most corrupt President in the history of the United States really does seem like a ridiculous understatement. It feels closer to the truth to say that Trump is more corrupt than every other President in history combined.

In the age of the influencer, does the political backing of News Corp matter anymore? This yearโ€™s federal election demonstrated that Australiaโ€™s media landscape has changed. Big playersย are no longer โ€œkingmakersโ€ย in politics.

The ABC and SBS are still the most trusted news source in Australia. ABCโ€™s recent election night coverageย broke viewership records. Young audiences get news from social media. Australian news has been facing digital disruption for decades. #auspol #media

What Should Labor Do With its Majority? Ambitious reform or steady as she goes?

What Should Labor Do With its Majority? My latest on Substack ๐Ÿ‘‡

I argue that there is much Labor can do without breaching its election commitments, as well as setting the stage for a third term.

It was definitely the obstructionism tactics used by the Greens, and the CMFEU stunt. I donโ€™t think it was their stance on Gaza so much

That was down to Max himself, l reckon. Obstructive, student activism and arrogance, was not seen as helpful in difficult times

Let's say "Left Thinking", coz, here in Australia the "Liberals" are the Trumpists, we elected our Labor Government for a second term, they are Left leaning and Socially responsible

We're not heading for facism in Australia. The resounding Labor victory was a strong rejection if Dutton, the LNP, and Trump like policies.

09.05.2025 07:43 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

So your approach is to criticise everything and support no one? That's even worse than a Labor stan. At least Labor stans are loyal and will support their side.

Politics is very easy when you just pick & choose a few policies you like but refuse to defend anything.

As much as they didn't like Harris. She would have never pulled the crazy tariffs shit that Trump did. That almost plunged the whole world into another global financial crisis.

Yeah, its like they canโ€™t actually understand cause and effect. They hated the Dems so much that they were completely blind to what would happen if they put a dumb as mud Christofascist puppet in the WH? Now they have guys in black vans grabbing people off the streets, and they look shocked. WTAF? ๐Ÿคฃ

So you're very critical of Labor. But you can't even do 1 reply about why you think the Greens are better?

The Greens will ask these questions when the dust settles and the shock of the loss subsides.

The massive drop in primary votes for Max Chandler-Mather strongly suggests that 2022 Greens voters simply didnโ€™t come back in 2025. #auspol

I was very happy to see the arrogant twerp MCM lose his seat.

Not so happy to see Adam Bandt lose his. I thought him a decent leader of the Greens

What went wrong in Melbourne?? this is one part of the election results I haven't got round to figuring out.

That is a classic example. "Harris is sooo bad. She's just like Biden. Essentially she used to be a cop. So we refuse to support her/ vote for her"
And the result? Another 4 years of Trump. I mean WTF??? how is a Trump presidency a better outcome?

So why did the Greens do so badly this election? Can you give any reasons for that?

It seems to me that you believe the Greens policies are far superior to Labor's. If that's true, why didn't more people vote for them??

09.05.2025 06:47 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Kevin Rudd didn't implement offshore detention. I'm very certain that was Howard and the LNP. The first Labor PM to support offshore detention was Julia Gillard.
