I've often seen hunters wanting or trying to get all hunting protected at cultural heritage. I've every time said that it's a really bad idea and an admission of loss in rational discussions about hunting to try and resort to "screw you, you can't stop me."

Indeed it is.

History is useful here: Those defending bullfights in other countries have in the past tried to get that recognized, and been refused, by UNESCO.

The case for bullfighting as "cultural heritage" is bad, but the case for fox hunting is even worse. So thankfully this will not succeed.

Sweatpants with many seams

I don't understand why some designers of clothes make so many unnecessary seams. As far as I'm concerned, each seam drastically decreases the wearing comfort of the clothes, so the objective, if I designed clothes, would be as few seams as possible. Am I the weird one?

Yeah I think it's mostly an American and African thing, where it's still very much alive.

It falls under the mental illness called religion. Most of these people, at least in hunting circles and especially hunting in Africa, are deeply Christian, and their favourite part of the Bible is the part that says men have dominion over all animals and that all animals are for men to use.

This is unfortunately not far from rhetoric that you might hear in some of the more fundamentalist hunting and sustainable use circles.

Can dentists remember their patients' teeth just from patient names or do they need reminders? Like how the rest of us remember and associate faces with names? I wonder if my dentist may forget my face but remembers my teeth. But maybe some teeth are also more memorable than others, same as faces...

But to argue against my own point there, I guess it would be harder to police that kind of exam today too. When I last wrote that kind of exam essay, all they needed to do was have us not drag wired internet into the exam room. Restricting internet is hard now. And some AI can do some work offline.

Oh, right. Yeah I could be wrong there too.

But what changed about that to make it harder? Isn't that how essay writing for exams has always been?
